How this independent editorial review site handles information when you read our pages about the broker EightCap in South Africa.

Understand what we collect and what we leave alone

You are reading an editorial review, not opening an account. That distinction shapes everything below. This site is an independent editorial resource that reviews the broker EightCap for readers in South Africa. We are not the broker, we are not affiliated with the broker, and we do not provide financial services, accounts, deposits or advice. When you visit, we do not ask you to register, we do not ask for your identity document, your bank details, your trading account credentials or your proof of address, and we do not open any account on your behalf.

What we do collect is limited to what a normal website receives when a browser makes a request. That includes technical information such as the type of device and browser you use, the pages you open on this site, the time of your visit and a rough location derived from your network address. If you choose to write to us through the contact form on this site, we receive whatever you type into it, including any name and contact details you decide to give. You decide how much that is, and you can leave fields empty where the form allows it.

We do not collect payment information because we do not sell anything here. We do not collect information about your trading activity, your portfolio, your deposits or withdrawals, and we have no way to see them. If you contact the broker directly, that conversation is between you and the broker, and this policy does not cover it.

Set a clear age limit and protect children

This site is written for adults who are considering a broker and who are old enough to do so lawfully in South Africa. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. We do not design any part of the site to attract younger readers, and we do not run features that ask for a date of birth.

If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through the contact form on this site, write to us through that same form and describe the situation. We will delete the information once we can identify it, and we will not ask you to prove anything beyond what is needed to locate the record. We would rather remove a record that turns out to be unnecessary than keep one that should not exist.

Measure traffic in aggregate and keep analytics modest

We use analytics to understand which pages readers find useful and which ones they leave quickly. The measurements we look at are aggregated: page views, referring sources, approximate region, device type and similar counters. We use them to decide what to update, what to shorten and what to remove. We are not trying to build a profile of you as an individual, and we do not combine analytics records with anything you write in the contact form.

Where analytics tools rely on cookies or similar storage, they do so to recognise a returning browser and to count visits accurately. You can block or clear that storage in your browser settings, and the site will still work; some counters will simply be less precise. We do not use analytics to serve advertising, and we do not pass analytics records to the broker for its marketing.

Aggregated figures may be kept for longer than raw visit logs because they no longer identify anyone. A total count of visits to a page tells us nothing about who was reading.

Rely on a lawful basis and limit who receives data

We process the technical information described above because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the site working, secure and readable, and because a website cannot respond to a browser request without handling some of that data. When you send a message through the contact form on this site, we process what you write because you asked us to receive it and because we need it to answer you. Where the law requires consent for a particular tool, we ask for it before that tool runs and you can refuse without losing access to the editorial content.

We share information only with the service providers that keep the site online: the hosting provider that stores the pages and logs, and the analytics provider that produces the aggregated counters. They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use the data for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if a court or a regulator with proper authority requires it, and we will check that any such request is valid before responding.

We never sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to the broker for marketing, and we do not share it with advertising networks. We do not name other brokers or partners because we do not pass your data to any of them. If this ever changes, this policy will change first.

Keep records only as long as needed

Raw server logs, which contain technical request data, are kept for a short period, typically a few weeks, so that we can investigate errors and abuse, and are then deleted or overwritten. Aggregated analytics figures are kept for up to twenty-four months in a form that does not identify individual readers.

Messages you send through the contact form on this site are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up, and then for a further period if we need the record to resolve a dispute or meet a legal obligation. After that they are deleted. If you ask us to delete a message earlier, we will do so unless we are required to keep it.

Because we hold so little, most requests are simple to answer. To ask what we hold about you, to correct it or to have it removed, use the contact form on this site and say what you need. We will respond within a reasonable time, and we will not charge you for a first request.
